THE 2nd ALD INTERNATIONAL LIGHTING FELLOWSHIP AWARD

TO: MANNIE MANIM – LIGHTING DESIGNER

FRIDAY 14TH OCTOBER 10.30AM-2.30 PM

YOUNG VIC, MAIN HOUSE, 66 THE CUT, WATERLOO, LONDON SE1 8LZ

ALD Members and friends are welcome and strongly encouraged to join in this unique and singular celebration of the illustrious career of Lighting Designer Mannie Mannim - a true doyen of the theatre.

A Unique Event: The ALD and UK Lighting professionals honour Mannie for his long list of credits for Lighting Design but he has, throughout an exceptional career, been a company manager, producer, technical director, founder, administrator and trustee of many theatre organisations.

Still flourishing in his seventies, Mannie’s work started as an usher at the Brooke Theatre, Johannesburg in 1955 and he rose through the ranks from stage hand to Managing Director of PACT Drama, Created the Doornfontein Arena. Courageously he and Barney Simon created the world renowned Market Theatre in Johannesburg. Executive Director of Baxter and Fugard Theatres in Cape Town, producing and lighting his own productions, his work has been often in South Africa but also extensively seen internationally.

The ALD is honoured to present Mannie with the ALD International Fellowship award at this event and it is hoped that many UK LDs and Lighting industry practitioners will join him to celebrate his career and the art and craft of Lighting.

We are holding an event at the Young Vic Theatre where his latest show "A Man of Good Hope" is playing, and tickets are available at the event for the Young Vic’s evening performance of Mannie’s current production: A Man of Good Hope based on the book by Jonny Steinberg - The true story of one refugee’s epic quest across Africa, brought to life with music from the world-renowned Isango Ensemble.

This event includes a networking lunch.

We have secured a limited number concessionary tickets for the evening show of the same day at 7.30pm, but these need to be booked and paid for no later than 10.00am on 7th October. These cost £31.50 each. Please ensure you select the Show Ticket option below.
